Call for Research Fellow (Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Intelligent Robotics)

Job Information

The Autonomous Control Systems Laboratory is now recruiting one research fellow.

As a postdoctoral researcher to promote our research project “Creation of active observation technology for microclimate using drones", you will be engaged in the development of drone control systems. You will work closely with the members of this project as well as researchers at Center for Aerial Intelligent Vehicles.

  • About the research project:
This research project is supported by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) .

We will create a technology for observing microclimate by collecting weather information at low altitudes in densely built areas, which is useful for predicting microclimate (detailed weather near the surface of the earth that is strongly affected by man-made objects and human activities). We will integrate ultrasmall sensors developed with MEMS technology into a newly developed bioinspired nano-drone and control the hierarchical tasks for microclimate observation (control of the aircraft, avoidance of multiple aircraft and obstacles, and selection of orbits and regions) while maintaining optimization at each level, aiming to realize active observation with adaptability as well as mobility. We will develop elemental technologies while effectively using the hierarchy of tasks and commercially available micro-drones and aim to create a micro-meteorological forecasting system in cooperation with the Micro-Meteorological Forecasting Team.
